About the Keynote
A diagnosis of breast cancer can be terrifying. But for
many women, it is also the initiation of an emotional and
spiritual journey to new levels of wisdom and strength.
When Carol wrote her book "The Art of Resilience: One
Hundred Paths to Wisdom and Strength in an Uncertain World",
she had no idea how timely the wisdom she gathered together
for the book would become to her personally. Her commitment
throughout the writing process was to present spiritual and
psychological approaches that would hold up under the the
whole range of life's circumstances. Upon completion, she
was diagnosed with breast cancer. She now feels that she was guided to write the
book in anticipation of her own need for healing and
support, as well as to support others facing similar
challenges.
In this keynote, businesswoman/author and scholar Carol
Orsborn describes her own journey as a breast cancer
initiate. Sharing her inspiring perspectives and
techniques, Orsborn shows how it is possible to have an
extraordinary life, whatever challenges come our way.
What is the keynote's core message?
You can't control everything that happens to you--but you
can learn how to gain wisdom and strength even from life's
most serious challenges. One of the keys is to get beyond
conventional notions of success and look for deeper meaning.
For Carol, what has proven to be most important is to be
open to giving and receiving love.
